Project Next is well on the way!

So while I am putting the finishing touches on project next (hand sewing shiny embellishments here -n- there) I thought I would share a little business venture of mine with you.

Did you know I am a passionate reclaimer - not Proclaimer ... although I do love that song ... something a bout 500 miles :-)

Anyhow when I can I love to recycle - you've seen what I can do with a Tailored shirt! Well I love a throw away T-shirt even more - I turn them into unique swimwear pieces, take a look!

I sell them for $150.00 (AUD) - one of a kind pieces - just love them - send me an email or leave a comment if you'd like to buy some - have some great t-shirts waiting to be reclaimed!

Project Next - Inspiration local designer Megan Salmon!

The Inspiration!

The Resources

My hand dyed tulle and crochet cotton lace ($18.95 total cost) and a white Ben Sherman tailored shirt -donated and dyed!

Bit of a close up ;-)
I'm thinking those buttons looks so pearly and shiny they'll have to be added to the final piece!

Well I'm off to create - again ... watch this space I have a reconfigured Gertie Suit Jacket to upload in the very near future with a little something special to go with that suit jacket made from the left over corduroy - yes you heard right corduroy is back and its beautiful ... to sew with!

My Thread Theory Newcastle Cardigan Muslin!

Wow what a mouthful that title is!

Now a muslin I hear you say! The Newcastle Cardy - does it really need a muslin it sews up beautifully, in fact its a absolute dream to make - just gorgeous pattern! The only issue I have is the sizes are rather small or the men in my life have BIG shoulders!

I made the medium and extended the arm length, the bodice length measurement should have been fine but the cardigan still didn't fit - arm length turned out great but the shoulders were very narrow and the bodice definitely needs extending for my tall boy!

Just a little tip for anyone who interested - when a attaching a yoke piece on stretch fabric if you pin it like this before you baste the edges it wont stretch out place. I used some grey wool suiting with a little stretch for the contrasting yokes.

Love the way the top-stitching makes it look store bought! (Just totally in love with top-stitching ATM)

Just had to put this picture in because my clapper that Mr SS made for me is in it - love it best pressing tool ever!!!! Made from a beautiful piece of reclaimed Jarrah hardwood - such a dream to use!

Also just wanted to say how well this brown thread thread is working out in my overlocker - it just blends with so many darker colours unlike black that stands out (except against black or very dark-brown/navy) but this brown thread very versatile - worth a go! I used for all my denim projects too.

I love the way the cuff turned out!

Sew - back to the pattern drafting board! I plan on making another because it is a beautiful, gorgeous, dreamy pattern to sew up and I really want to make something for my son that he likes and will wear (and this is it!) So this first, slightly on the small side, attempt is going to a lovely young man whom I think will appreciate and wear it - my physio! He feels a bit like a son to me ... only I see him more often than I see my sons!
